The 21future initiative helps socially disadvantaged young people to build the confidence they need to master the challenges and opportunities of the future. Over the one-week project phase, eighth- to tenth-year school students can acquire practical insights into a variety of careers and reflect on their personal strengths and plans.
A central element of the initiative is the “ICH-Lernreise”, a personal learning journey that focuses on a responsible approach to digital media. In the process, the young students reflect on the opportunities open to them in STEM fields and evolve from mere smartphone consumers to become active producers of digital content, using practical tools to create clips, websites and animated presentations. The project thus empowers young people to proactively shape the digitalisation process from an early stage.
The initiative is funded by the TÜV SÜD Foundation, which supports the implementation of these digital learning journeys at middle schools in and around Munich and at secondary schools in the greater Karlsruhe area.
