Innovative road safety education award

All-round safety package

The Innovative Road Safety Education Award has been presented jointly by the Landesverkehrswacht, Bavaria's road safety association, and the TÜV SÜD Foundation since 2012. Its goal is to showcase outstanding road safety education projects and raise their public profile. Entry is open to classes or courses from all schools in Bavaria, spanning primary and middle schools, special-needs schools, secondary schools, business schools, vocational and technical schools and colleges. The patron of the project is the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Culture.

The winner in 2024 was class 4a at Konrad Adenauer Grundschule in Lenzfried. The primary-age students came together to consider how to increase children’s safety on their way to and from school, and recorded the ideas in a teaching video. The second place went to Freiherr-von-Ickstatt-Realschule in Ingolstadt for a project in which fifth-year students created six modules for teaching mobility skills. In third place was Rupert-Egenberger-Schule in Amberg, a school for children with intellectual developmental needs. To help the children build a defensive attitude in road use, a “rollercoaster” for pedal cars was constructed in the school grounds. In order to use the 250-metre route, the children need to obey special rules while learning fairness, cooperation and personal competence skills in the process.
