Regular school, research project and teacher training centre – University School Dresden performs three functions in one. The educational concept focuses on teaching that optimally caters to the abilities, knowledge and needs of each individual child.
The starting-point here is the ideas and interests of the students, who are proactive participants in shaping the learning process. The open-ended educational concept evolves in step with the individual learning progress made by the young students. Bespoke learning paths for each student are created using special learning and school management software, the development of which has been funded by the TÜV SÜD Foundation from the outset. University School Dresden is a free state primary and secondary school with over 700 students in years 1 to 9.
Since 2024, the university school concept has been implemented at other locations in Saxony. The teaching and learning concepts already proven in practice at the University School are being established in schools in the East Saxony region by students at the Technical University of Dresden (TUD), who serve as teaching assistants. At the same time, these future teachers gain valuable classroom experience and build contacts to schools urgently seeking new teachers.
