At the VDI-GaraGe in Leipzig, young people are familiarising themselves with the world of engineering and technology, from wood and metalworking to 3D printing, robotics and bionics. The educational opportunities there have now been extended to include teachers and educators, with the aim of introducing STEM subjects into day-to-day education in innovative ways at an early stage.
The schemes “Tech4Kids”, “Tech2Teach” and “Tech4Vision” focus on an integrated interdisciplinary approach allowing comprehensive treatment of topics including artificial intelligence, fake news and makerspace activities. The schemes provide valuable inspiration for educators and teachers to introduce the fascination of science and technology subjects in kindergartens, day-care settings and schools.
With funding from the TÜV SÜD Foundation, VDI-GaraGe is hugely expanding its adult education services. This expansion will initially focus on educational professionals in Saxony and the neighbouring states of Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Brandenburg, with expansion into other regions as part of a possible second phase.
